Our Fleet Services Division is pivotal to ensuring the safety of our provincial road network.We're recruiting for a Truck and Transport Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This is your opportunity to advance your professional development through hands on experience, training, and mentorship.About Our OpportunityYou will develop your skills and experience as an Apprentice, working at one or more of our repair shops throughout the Region. The machinery and equipment that you will service is used for snow and ice removal, repairs, and maintenance for the provincial road network.Primary AccountabilitiesUnder the supervision of the Fleet Service Coordinator and/or a certified mechanic, you will assist with:Diagnosing equipment failuresRepairing equipment such as excavators, snow plows, graders, tandem trucks and loadersSupporting our preventative maintenance programIn this role you will also have the opportunity to work on various electronic controls and computer diagnostics.Qualifications and ExperienceSuccessful completion of a recognized Truck and Transport Repair program is required.As the ideal candidate, you are engaged, self-motivated, and an effective team player. Considerable standing, lifting, carrying or moving about inside or outside is required.Additional InformationThere is one (1) opportunity in Hebbville in Zone 28 covering the Bridgewater Fleet Services Area including Zones 25, 28, 30, 32 and 34. Apprentices are required to supply their own tools. However, personal protective equipment as well as larger tools are provided.Candidates are asked to include confirmation of current apprentice hours with their application.
