The OpportunityCompany, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Customer Billing ServicesLocation: Halifax, Nova ScotiaType of Employment: Regular, Full-TimeClosing Date: July 23, 2026We are currently seeking a Revenue Specialist to join our Billing Services team in a permanent position reporting to the Billing Supervisor.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and ensuring accuracy in billing processes. As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you'll play an important role in reviewing and maintaining the integrity of customer billing information behind the scenes.You will receive on-the-job training to help you build the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in the role. Key elements of this role include:As a Revenue Specialist, you will support the operational side of the billing process by reviewing billing exceptions, investigating discrepancies, and making necessary adjustments before bills are issued to customers. Your responsibilities will include:Investigate and resolve individual bill issues and exceptions identified through daily billing cycles.Calculate and process billing adjustments on customer accounts.Recreate customer bills in accordance with approved rates, fees, and regulations.Perform billing functions such as bill cancellations, complex adjustments, and reissuing historical or multiple bills.Review billing batches and analyze exceptions to identify potential causes and resolutions before bills are released.Provide billing-related expertise and support to internal stakeholders and external customers as required.Collaborate with teams across Customer Care, Field Operations, Smart Meter Operations, and other business areas to resolve billing-related issues.Follow established billing and meter reading policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.Support the Customer Care Centre during major power outages by providing customer phone support during and after regular business hours.You will also be responsible for your personal safety and that of your coworkers by adhering to all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. In addition, you will support environmental performance through compliance with environmental management system processes and initiatives. These skills will make you successful:We're looking for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate many of the following qualifications and strengths:Grade XII education or equivalent.Minimum of two years of experience in billing, metering, bookkeeping, accounting, finance administration, or a related field.Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and determine appropriate solutions.A solid understanding of accounting and billing principles, including adjustments, account balances, and transaction accuracy.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a small, collaborative team environment.Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.Sound judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and initiative.Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technologies.We understand that experience comes in many forms, and we're dedicated to adding new perspectives to our team.
