Join our Shoreham Team!!Department: Food and Nutrition ServicesResponsible To: Manager of Nutrition ServicesQualifications: High School diploma or equivalentDiploma of Culinary Arts or EquivalentValid Basic Food Safety TrainingRed Seal Certification from a recognized Trade School or Community CollegeTwo to three years related experience requiredPrevious experience in an institution health care food service department considered an assetFood service experience requiredRecipe development experience requiredAdvanced Food Safety CertificationRegular attendance and punctuality are requiredWHMIS CertificationMust be able to work 8 hour shift as per posted schedule, subject to call backMust be able to attend in-service programs while on dutyMust be able to lift 50 lbs at a time, in good general health and able to endure the day-to-day pressure of the position.Tasks/Responsibilities: Prepares food products to established standards (e.g., Food Safety Standards, standardized menus and recipes, cook/chill/freeze recipes, quotas, HACCP principals, and sanitation procedures, etc.)Maintains knowledge of residents' special dietary requirements; prepares meals as per dietary requirements and resident needsPrepares and delivers food for special functionsReceives and checks food; assists in food storage as necessaryEnsures all food supplies are stored, labelled, and rotated properlyServes food in an appetizing manner for residents and staff using standards for portion controlEnsures completion of required documentation (e.g. inventory counts, staff and visitor meal counts, temperature charts, cleaning checklist, etc.)Records temperatures daily on the refrigeration and freezing equipment.Records temperatures of hot and cold food daily.Maintains a clean, sanitized, safe working environmentAssists with cleaning all cooking utensils and equipmentImmediately reports any equipment requiring maintenanceImmediately reports any fire or accident hazardsAssists in the standardization of recipes and assists in establishing portion control standards while ensuring high quality food products and minimizing food wastePerforms other duties as requiredDuties: As per the Cook, Journeyman Job Description.Effective: ImmediatelyHours of Work: 24 Hours Biweekly - 8 hour shiftsSalary: As per CUPE Collective AgreementIf this exciting opportunity interests you, please Click APPLY!Applications:Shoreham is proud to be an inclusive employer who encourages diverse applicant.
