We offer gratitude to the Skwxwú7mesh People who have lived on these lands since time immemorial.Planner 1 Temporary Full-TimeThe District of Squamish is seeking a Planner 1 to provide assistance in the administration and implementation of the current planning program. This role plays a key part in preparing and presenting administrative reports, policy recommendations, records and correspondence to Council and Committees. As a Planner 1, you will work closely with various stakeholders, advising and consulting on planning matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong team player with proven time management skills, who brings knowledge of land use planning principles and design review proficiency.Key Responsibilities: Responds to enquiries and correspondence from the general public, other Municipal departments, consultants, developers, agencies, and other groups concerning matters of policy governing growth and development. Prepares and presents administrative reports, policy recommendations, records and correspondence. Advises and consults with various stakeholders on planning matters, attending meetings as required. Responsible for current planning, including day to day administration of planning bylaws within the District. Carries out on-site inspections in the review of assigned projects. Participates in special studies and prepares policy guidelines concerning a variety of planning matters.What we?re looking for: University education, preferably at the graduate level, in Planning, Environmental Planning, Geography, or a related field. 2+ years? experience in the planning field, preferably in a local government setting. Membership (or eligibility) with the Canadian Institute of Planners. Knowledge of land use planning principles and practices.
