*Job Overview:*
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant with experience in Canadian public practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in personal and corporate tax, bookkeeping review, CRA correspondence, and financial statement preparation.
This role is well suited for someone who wants exposure to a broad range of tax, accounting, and advisory work while continuing to develop their technical skills in a client-focused public practice environment.
*Key Responsibilities:*
Taxation Services
Prepare and assist with a wide range of tax filings, including:
* T1 Individual Income Tax Returns * T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns * GST/PST Returns * T3 Trust Income Tax Returns * T5013 Partnership Returns * T3010 Charity Returns * T1135 Foreign Income Verification Statements * Other specialized tax and compliance filings as required
CRA Correspondence and Audit Support
* Respond to CRA inquiries and requests for information * Prepare supporting documentation for CRA reviews and audits * Assist with payroll, GST/HST, corporate tax, and personal tax review matters * Communicate with CRA on behalf of clients when required * Help identify issues that may reduce future audit or compliance risks
Business Advisory Support
* Assist with basic tax planning and business advisory matters * Support corporate structuring, reorganizations, and compliance work under senior supervision * Assist clients with start-up, expansion, and operational planning matters * Help prepare financial analysis and reporting for client decision-making
Financial Reporting and Accounting
* Prepare compiled financial statements for small and medium-sized businesses * Review bookkeeping records and identify required year-end adjustments * Prepare working papers and supporting schedules * Assist with corporate year-end files from start to completion
Client Engagement
* Build and maintain strong client relationships * Communicate clearly with clients regarding tax, accounting, and compliance matters * Manage assigned files and deadlines efficiently * Work collaboratively with partners, managers, and bookkeeping staff
Qualifications
* CPA designation or CPA student preferred * Minimum of 3 years of Canadian public practice experience preferred * Experience preparing T1 and T2 tax returns * Working knowledge of Canadian tax compliance requirements * Experience with CRA correspondence, reviews, or audits is an asset * Proficiency with accounting, tax, and productivity software such as QuickBooks, CaseWare, Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, or similar programs * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Willingness to learn and grow within a public practice environment
