Education: College/CEGEP. Tasks: Administer evaluative tests. Administer eye drops, ointments and medications as directed by ophthalmologists. Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment. Assess patients' physical abilities. Assist health care professionals. Assist physicians in the assessment of patients. Carry out treatment programs, under the direction of physiotherapists and/or occupational therapists, to rehabilitate patients with various injuries or disabilities. Develop information materials for patients. Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments. Examine the patient. Follow through on treatment programs with patients. Help medical examiner in charge. Help physical therapists. Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products. Maintain prescription records . Make decisions on tests and procedures. Record test results and medications given by ophthalmologists. Set up and dismantle equipment.
