Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces . Inspect final products. Test prototypes and production tools. Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates. Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining. Design tools, moulds, jigs and fixtures. Tool and die fabrication experience: Gauge blocks. Jigs and fixtures. Metal cutting, forming or bending dies. Compound or progressive transfer dies. Extrusion dies. Screening questions: Do you have experience working in this field?. Experience: 5 years or more.
