Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry. Medicine (MD). Family medicine residency programs. Work setting: Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals. Examine patients' health condition to identify diseases and injuries . Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment . Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Prescribe and administer medications and treatments. Advise patients on health care. Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care. Implement treatment plans. Diagnose type and severity of diseases. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care in consultation with patients and their families. Conduct patient interviews, physical assessments and take medical histories. Provide health maintenance education. Initiate and maintain confidential medical files and records. Diagnose patients' diseases and disorders. Treat diseases, injuries and deformities. Interpret medical test results . Examine the patient.
