About The Role Job Title Financial Controller (Remote) Location Remote based in Ireland or Portugal Travel Occasional travel for company meetings Terms Permanent contract Schedule Monday – Friday | Business hours The Financial Controller will play a critical role in supporting the company’s rapid growth by building scalable financial processes, strengthening controls, and providing clear financial insight across multiple locations and client programs. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational finance experience in a people-intensive, multi-site BPO environment. The Controller will partner closely with the CFO, operations, and client leadership teams to ensure financial discipline while enabling growth. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Financial Reporting & Month-End Processes <ul><li>Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple legal entities and international locations</li><li>Prepare timely and accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow), management reports, and KPI dashboards</li><li>Ensure consistent financial reporting across sites as the company scales</li><li>Prepare detailed quarterly Board packs</li><li>Drive continuous improvement in month-end close timelines and reporting accuracy</li></ul>Revenue Recognition & Billing <ul><li>Oversee revenue recognition for BPO contracts (FTE-based, transaction-based, hybrid models)</li><li>Track client-level profitability, contribution margins, and cost drivers</li><li>Support contract reviews, renewals, and pricing decisions with financial analysis</li><li>Ensure billing accuracy aligned with SLAs, headcount, and utilisation</li><li>Ensure disciplined billing and collection processes as client volume increases</li></ul>Budgeting & Forecasting <ul><li>Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes in a high-growth environment</li><li>Partner with operations to forecast headcount, attrition, ramp-ups, and new site launches</li><li>Build scalable financial models to support growth from 600 to +1,000 employees</li><li>Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership</li></ul>Cost Control & Operational Finance <ul><li>Monitor and control labour costs (payroll, benefits, overtime, incentives), the primary cost driver in BPO and conduct monthly reviews with key business stakeholders</li><li>Track location-level, program-level performance and client profitability reporting</li><li>Identify margin improvement opportunities through cost optimization and efficiency gains</li></ul>Working Capital Management <ul><li>Oversee AR/AP, client invoicing, and collections across multiple clients and geographies</li><li>Manage Cash Flow forecasting and working capital needs during growth</li><li>Review debtors and agree on recovery strategies</li><li>Manage the timing of creditor payments and authorize payments in the bank.</li></ul>Compliance, Controls & Audit <ul><li>Maintain strong internal controls appropriate for a scaling organisation</li><li>Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements across locations</li><li>Lead internal and external audit processes</li><li>Maintain asset registers in a remote business</li><li>Establish and document financial policies and procedures that scale</li></ul> Systems & Process Scalability <ul><li>Improve and standardize accounting systems, workflows, and controls</li><li>Partner with CFO on ERP optimization or implementation as the company grows</li><li>Automate and streamline processes to support multi-location operations</li><li>Lead finance team projects with support from the finance team</li></ul>Team Leadership <ul><li>Manage, mentor, and grow the finance and accounting team</li><li>Build a scalable structure that supports increased volume, complexity, and geographic expansion</li><li>Become a trusted business partner across the organisation, representing the finance team on various projects</li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement</li></ul> Your profile ABOUT YOU To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience: <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CA or CMA strongly preferred)</li><li>8–12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience</li><li>Prior experience in BPO, shared services, outsourcing, or labour-intensive service businesses strongly preferred</li><li>Proven experience supporting rapid growth and multi-location operations</li><li>Strong operational and analytical mindset</li><li>Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment</li><li>Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking</li><li>Excellent communication skills with finance and non-finance stakeholders</li><li>Advanced Excel and ERP experience </li></ul>This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health and strategic direction of the company, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented leader to drive financial excellence.
