Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL)/CDD Services are a wholly owned subsidiary company of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT). SCL/CDD Services provides a range of non-clinical Estates, Facilities and Procurement services to CDDFT.
SCL/CDD Services are looking to recruit a conscientious, flexible, enthusiastic and customer focused individual to join our Security Team based at University Hospital North Durham (UHND).
Main duties of the job
Successful post holders must be of a smart appearance, have an ability to communicate well at all levels, be level-headed and remain calm during emergency situations, be able to take instructions yet at times prioritise and act on their own initiative and have a proven ability to work without direct supervision.
A detailed understanding of hospital functions, experience of working with the general public and proven driving experience are desirable however full training will be provided.
The successful applicant must be flexible in their approach to working times, be available to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays when required. There may be occasions where the successful applicant is required to work at other sites within the Trust.
All posts will be subject to a 6 month probation period.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for providing a uniformed specialist security service. Ensuring that patients, visitors and staff are given advice and provided with a safe and secure environment in line with legislation and particularly in emergency situations. This will include communication with emergency services.
The post holder will aid protecting people and property, detecting and preventing crime including operating and controlling an access control, CCTV and key control systems. They will fully and satisfactorily complete all of the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.
In addition, fundamental to the role will be dealing with issues regarding challenging particular patients, visitors and staff, where difficult circumstances prevail (e.g., smokers, abuse issues both verbal and physical and unwelcome visitors).
The Group has a policy and guidance for the prevention and management of violent and abusive behaviour, this role will involve aiding in applying the appropriate techniques including the supervised restraint of patients using agreed methods and protocols.
All post holder must be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation and are required to hold or obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties. The duties conducted by this post holder requires a CCTV SIA Licence. There are also additional courses that are contractually required including Prevention & Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training.
