Job summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to play a key role in managing patient pathways? As a Cancer Flow Coordinator you will work with clinical, operational and administrative teams to ensure efficient coordination of cancer and urgent imaging pathways, supporting timely diagnosis and a positive patient experience.

You will coordinate inpatient, outpatient, cancer and urgent Radiology bookings, liaise with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure all stages of the patient pathway are organised effectively. Acting as a central point of contact for patients, clinicians and external partners, you will help maintain smooth patient flow, contribute to MDTs and support achievement of key cancer targets.

As demand grows, the department is expanding its workforce. We are seeking individuals with strong administrative, organisational and communication skills, ideally with experience in complex pathway management, service coordination or improvement initiatives.This full-time role involves 7.5 hours per day over five days. Flexibility is required to meet service needs, including early/late shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to coordinate cancer & urgent Radiology pathways. You will ensure patient bookings and reporting processes are managed accurately, efficiently & within required timeframes, supporting delivery of national cancer targets.

Responsibilities include coordinating inpatient, outpatient, urgent and cancer pathway bookings, working closely with referrers, ward teams, support services, and AHP's to ensure the patient journey is well planned and delivered in a timely manner.

You will proactively manage patient flow by identifying delays (e.g. vetting, diagnostics or reporting backlogs) & taking action to resolve or escalate issues. You will use your understanding of Radiology pathways and cancer standards to prioritise patients and optimise capacity.

You will act as a central contact for patients, clinical teams and external stakeholders, managing high volumes of telephone and electronic enquiries with clear, professional & compassionate communication.

The role requires use of multiple systems (Web Portal, Soliton, PACS, PAS, ePMA, ICE, Teletracking and reporting systems) to manage bookings and maintain accurate records; full training is provided.

You will support service delivery through administrative and analytical tasks, including data collection, monitoring throughput, capacity and demand, and contributing to performance tracking, service improvement and project work.
