Our thriving, long-established Practice is looking to welcome a new salaried GP to our dedicated team.

We are a partner-owned practice with a strong reputation for high-quality care and consistently excellent GP Patient Survey results.

Main duties of the job

The Role

4 sessions per week over 2 days

Mix of acute and routine appointments, including both pre-booked and same day appointments

Duty doctor responsibilities for a minimum of two sessions per week

Administrative Responsibilities

The successful candidate will share responsibility for routine clinical administration, including:

Processing repeat prescriptions

Reviewing and actioning lab reports

Managing Docman correspondence and other clinical documents

Applicants must be GMC registered, on the GMC GP Register, and have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this post.

Competitive sessional rate, depending on experience

Job description Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines

d. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

e. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

f. Effective management of long-term conditions

g. To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

h. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

i. Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

j. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

k. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

l. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

m. Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

n. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

o. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

p. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

q. Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

r. Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

s. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

t. Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice

u. Commit to self-learning and instill an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

v. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

w. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

x. To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

y. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working in General Practice or a comparable primary care setting. Ability to manage a diverse clinical caseload safely and effectively. Experience of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Experience of using electronic patient record systems. Experience of maintaining high standards of clinical record keeping. Evidence of participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities. Experience of managing patients with long-term conditions and complex healthcare needs.

Desirable

Experience of using EMIS Web. Experience of minor surgery and/or joint injections. Experience of conducting clinical audits Experience of remote consulting via telephone consultations

Qualifications Essential

MBBS, MBChB or equivalent primary medical qualification Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise

Desirable

Postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical speciality
