We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join us at West Hull Health Hub on a part time/full-time basis (22.5- 37.5 hour per week). This is far more than a traditional Pharmacy Technician role. Working alongside Clinical Pharmacists, GPs, prescribing teams, pharmacy administrators and supported by innovative digital technologies such as online consultations, you will help deliver safe, effective and patient-centred prescribing services across the Partnership.
Your expertise will contribute to improving medicines optimisation, supporting patients with their health outcomes, and ensuring prescribing processes are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with best practice. Main duties of the job
This is a varied and rewarding Pharmacy Technician role combining clinical, technical, and administrative responsibilities within a modern, digitally enabled Pharmacy Hub. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting safe prescribing, medicines optimisation, and high-quality patient care across the Partnership.
Working under the supervision of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, you will use your technical expertise to support clinicians, improve prescribing processes, and help patients gain the maximum benefit from their medicines.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting medicines optimisation and safe prescribing across the PartnershipUndertaking medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge and other care transitionsSupporting repeat prescribing processes and medication reviewsAssisting with structured medication reviews and high-risk drug monitoring within your competencyResponding to pharmacy-related patient enquiries and supporting medicines advice servicesCompleting prescribing audits and contributing to quality improvement initiativesWorking collaboratively with Clinical Pharmacists, GPs, prescribing teams, and pharmacy administratorsMaintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with prescribing policies and proceduresUsing digital systems and innovative technologies to improve patient access and prescribing efficiencyContributing to the ongoing development of the Pharmacy Hub and new models of care

Person Specification
Skills Essential
Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Clear, polite telephone manner. Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages and case management systems. Knowledge of the principles of medication optimisation. Good pharmacy knowledge including terminology. An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improvement of prescribing Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation. Understanding of current national policies, in particular those that impact on medicines management services. Effective time management (Planning & Organising). High levels of analytical literacy skills. Organised with good time management. Ability to follow policy and procedure.
Desirable
Systemone / Emis user skills. Experience of medicines reconciliation. Understanding of community pharmacy systems. Ability to develop and implement policy and procedure to sustain a quality service. Understanding of QOF.
Qualifications Essential
GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician. BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmacy services.
Desirable
Enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH).
