Group Manager - Cumbria and Lancashire

An opportunity has arisen for multiple permanent Group Manger positions across Cumbria and Lancashire.

1 x North Cumbria - West Cumbria Group

1 x Morecambe Bay - Kendal Group

1 x South Lancashire - Preston Group

The Group Manager will assume responsibility for local operational service delivery, acting on behalf of, and deputising for the Sector Manager within their group of stations. They will have responsibility for resource management and planning (rostering of resources), fleet and estates management, and financial management within their group of stations.

Main duties of the job

The Group Manager will have a focus on staff welfare support and management and implementation of health and wellbeing measures. They will manage and oversee absence management procedures, working with Senior Paramedics to make sure staff are escalated where appropriate. They will also undertake investigations as appropriate. They will have responsibility for ensuring that the staff working in their group of stations are appropriately trained, are paid correctly, have access to kit, equipment and vehicles required to do their jobs, and are supported to be at work. They will also have a responsibility for maintaining the health and wellbeing of the staff working in the group they are managing - implementing health and wellbeing initiatives driven by the sector/area/organisation. The Group Manager will also support the clinical lead with duty of candour.

Guided by the Sector Manager, the Group Manager will work closely with the Sector Clinical Lead to support them to deliver against clinical performance within their group.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Person Specification

Skills / Competencies Essential

Expert knowledge of operational leadership in the Pre-hospital setting and able to demonstrate credibility. Evidence of relevant CPD Ability to work collaboratively with other health professionals and blue light partners. Demonstrable compassionate and inclusive leadership. Experience in the application of HR processes. Demonstrable experience of line management responsibilities.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

HCPC registered Paramedic working to full scope of autonomous practice. Educated to degree level or relevant professional experience. Full UK driving licence, with C1. Appropriate emergency driving qualification. Operational Commander training or willing to work towards.

Experience Essential

Demonstrable experience working within a supervisory/ operational leadership setting. Demonstrable experience of leading teams to deliver against objectives. Experience of providing operational and/or tactical level command at multi-agency incidents.

Values and Behaviours Essential

Working together - demonstrate collaborative and inclusive working and challenge behaviour that is not inclusive or acceptable.
