Laurel House Surgery is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse (Registered Nurse) to join our friendly and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a well-established, patient-focused GP practice providing high-quality primary care across our two sites in Tamworth and Fazeley.
Hours: Part-time 22.5 hours per week
Working Pattern:
Tuesday: 8:30am 5:00pmThursday: 8:30am 5:00pmFriday: 8:30am 5:00pm(1-hour unpaid lunch break each day)

About the Role
As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to our diverse patient population. Working alongside our GPs, Healthcare Assistants and wider multidisciplinary team, you will manage your own clinics and contribute to the ongoing delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering wound care, dressings, ulcer care and removal of sutures or clips. Performing venepuncture, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and urinalysis. Administering childhood and adult immunisations, travel vaccinations and injectable medications in line with current guidelines. Undertaking cervical cytology screening. Carrying out NHS Health Checks and providing health promotion and lifestyle advice. Participating in the management of patients with long-term conditions, including asthma, COPD and diabetes (where appropriately trained). Maintaining accurate clinical records using EMIS Web and ensuring appropriate clinical coding. Supporting infection prevention and control procedures and maintaining high clinical standards. Working collaboratively with the wider practice team to provide outstanding patient care.

Managing nurse-led clinics and delivering evidence-based nursing care.Undertaking wound care, ulcer management, compression bandaging and removal of sutures or clips.Performing venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, urinalysis and specimen management.Administering childhood and adult immunisations, seasonal vaccinations and travel vaccinations in accordance with Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and Patient Specific Directions (PSDs).Delivering cervical cytology screening.Undertaking NHS Health Checks and providing health promotion and lifestyle advice.Participating in the management of patients with long-term conditions, including asthma, COPD and diabetes, in line with competencies and training.Supporting simple contraception reviews for patients established on their current method.Requesting appropriate pathology investigations, including blood tests, urine cultures and swabs.Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous electronic clinical records using EMIS Web.Ensuring accurate clinical coding and supporting the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.Maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control, vaccine storage and cold chain management.Chaperoning patients where appropriate.Working collaboratively with GPs, Healthcare Assistants, administrative colleagues and external healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.Participating in clinical meetings, significant event reviews, mandatory training, annual appraisal and continuing professional development.Contributing to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of nursing services within the practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Previous experience working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and prioritise a varied clinical workload. Strong organisational and IT skills. Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care. Understanding of clinical governance, infection prevention and confidentiality.
Desirable
Cervical cytology qualification. Immunisation and vaccination training. Chronic disease management experience. Experience using EMIS Web. Knowledge of QOF and primary care clinical coding. Travel vaccination experience.
