Job summary The key function of the role is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS, to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.
Main duties of the job * Ensure compliance in accordance with all NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, relevant NHSPS Technical Guidance, Process and Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and any applicable aspects of HTMs. * Deliver Scheduled, Reactive and Remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are maintained at all times This can include, but is not limited to, basic/routine maintenance activities as instructed, building fabric, general monthly PPM tasks, plumbing, drainage, joinery, and general decoration repairs. * To maintain effective site logbooks at all NHS premises where required, ensuring that they are completed in a timely and accurate manner. * Complete suitable risk assessments prior to undertaking basic/routine works in line with instructions within any relevant permit or work plan. * Understand the principles of fire risk assessment and relevant precautions within the workplace. * To record and report any risk, loss or defect to the Technical Services Supervisor or helpdesk as appropriate for corrective action to be taken.

We now have an opportunity for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our team supporting Crawley Hospital and surrounding community healthcare sites on a permanent basis.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will provide general maintenance, caretaking and repair support across Crawley Hospital and several nearby healthcare locations. The role is predominantly based at Crawley Hospital but will also support sites including East Grinstead, Ashdown Forest, Crawley Down and other locations within approximately 20 miles of Crawley.
This is a mobile role requiring travel between sites as business needs dictate. Van and tools will be provided.
Salary starts from £25,000 per annum.
Who You Are
You are practical, dependable and enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same. You will have experience in a handyman, caretaker, facilities support or general maintenance environment and be confident carrying out a range of routine maintenance tasks.
You take pride in maintaining safe, functional environments, can work independently when required and have a flexible approach to supporting multiple healthcare locations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general maintenance and repairs across healthcare properties.Support the upkeep, presentation and safe operation of NHS buildings and external areas.Undertake routine caretaking and handyman duties.Complete basic repairs, minor installations and reactive maintenance tasks.Identify and report faults, defects and health and safety concerns.Assist with planned maintenance activities and property inspections.Travel between healthcare sites as required to provide maintenance support.Ensure all work is completed in line with NHS Property Services policies and procedures.Maintain accurate records of completed works and reported issues.Provide excellent customer service to colleagues, patients and visitors.Handling routine tasks and social interactions within the work environment and demonstrating the ability to absorb and follow policies and guidance necessary for the role.
Hours and Working Pattern Full-time permanent position.37.5 hours per week.Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
Due to the mobile nature of this role, applicants should be willing and able to travel between sites.

Qualifications Essential
Proven experience in a building trade or building maintenance/ caretaker role. * Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience Essential
* Previous experience of building services maintenance and repairs and minor installation projects. * Basic building skills such as - plastering/ painting/decorating and/or plumbing.
