Job summary
Sharnbrook Surgery in North Bedfordshire is looking for a Salaried GP for one day per week on Tuesdays.
The practice is a warm, supportive place to work with a friendly, democratic team. We offer supportive induction and mentoring, daily clinical coffee breaks open to the whole team, and regular education sessions.

Main duties of the job
This successful candidate will join our team on a Tuesday to manage both minor illness and chronic conditions with a mix of face to face, telephone appointments and clinical triage, as the practice operates a total triage system to manage on the day demand.

Sharnbrook Surgery is a dispensing practice and has over 6000 patients in the lovely village of Sharnbrook. Due to housing developments planned in the village, our list size is set to grow substantially, and we are eager to maintain our excellent reputation as we grow. We have excellent QOF achievement year on year. We are part of Unity Primary Care Network.
Our team is made up of experienced GPs, 3 Partners and 2 salaried, who are well supported by our established nursing, admin and dispensary teams. We look forward to nurturing your growth within our surgery.
Job description Job responsibilities
To undertake duties governed by our contract and Direct and Local Enhanced Services including:
Face to face and telephone consultations, clinical triage and home visits.
Administration (such as dealing with queries, patient test results, NHS or private referral letters, tasks, emails and other paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
Clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, and making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
Collecting data for audit purposes.
Compiling and issuing electronic acute and repeat prescriptions, reviewing repeat medications and completing medication reviews.
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well as wider guidance such as that from NICE.
Baby checks as and when required.
Completion of cremation certificates and medical reports (NHS and private) when required. The fees for this work are retained by practice (unless you have prior agreement with GP partners and the work is completed outside of normal working hours/sessions).
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Sessions 2 per week on a Tuesday.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Excellent communicator and team player. Keeping up with CPD and good knowledge of current guidelines. Understanding of QoF, Medicines Management and the general working of GP practices.
Desirable
Experience of working in NHS General Practice Understanding of SystmOne
Qualifications Essential
You must be a Registered GP with the GMC, possess the right to work in the UK and be included on NHS Performers List.
