Job summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity as a GP practice receptionist, this up to 29 hours across 2 sites (16 at North Darnall and 13 at Highgate) we are open to applicants looking for work at both or either site.
As part of a reception team you will be supporting a friendly welcoming team and busy practice. You will be the first point of call, either over the telephone or face to face, for patients, families and visitors to the practice.
Were looking for staff with great communication and customer service to ensure patients are supported with booking their appointments and using the service.
Main duties of the job
Be the welcoming face of the practice, greeting patients and visitors and providing a friendly, professional first point of contact. Manage the practice's telephone booking system, including answering enquiries, taking and recording messages, and booking patient appointments. Process new and temporary patient registrations accurately. Respond professionally to patient queries and concerns, resolving issues where possible and escalating more complex matters to the appropriate manager when required. Communicate effectively with colleagues using a range of methods, including email and team meetings. Carry out a variety of administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, photocopying, processing incoming post, and accurately recording information within the clinical system (SystmOne). Provide administrative support to maintain the quality and accuracy of patient records. Assist with the daily processing of prescriptions, repeat prescriptions and repeat dispensing requests. Act as a chaperone for clinicians during patient consultations when required. Support the induction of new and temporary reception team members. Action requests from GPs and other clinicians by liaising with patients, carers, hospitals and other healthcare organisations to support ongoing patient care.

Be the welcoming face of the practice, greeting patients and visitors and providing a professional and friendly first point of contact.Manage the administrative functions of the practice telephone booking system, including answering enquiries, booking appropriate appointments, taking and recording messages, and directing queries for further clinical advice where required.Work as part of the reception team, providing a range of reception duties including supporting patients, managing the waiting area, and ensuring reception and consultation areas are kept tidy and welcoming.Process new and temporary patient registrations accurately.Respond appropriately to patient queries and verbal complaints, resolving issues where possible and escalating unresolved matters to the appropriate manager.Communicate effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionals using appropriate methods, including email, meetings and other team communication channels.Carry out a range of administrative and clerical duties, including scanning, filing, faxing, photocopying, processing incoming post, recording information accurately in SystmOne, and supporting data quality processes.Assist with the daily processing of prescriptions, monitored dosage system (Nomad) requests and repeat dispensing.Act as a chaperone for clinicians during patient consultations when required.Support clinicians by following up patient requests and liaising with other healthcare organisations, secondary care services, patients, families and carers on behalf of the practice.Support the induction and training of new or temporary reception team members.Process and acknowledge patient payments where required.Maintain awareness of Health & Safety policies and procedures, reporting incidents, hazards or concerns through the appropriate channels.Report equipment faults, building maintenance issues or service problems to the appropriate manager.Support the opening and securing of practice premises when required.

To be responsible for continuing personal development To have an annual PDR with line manager. Support, network and provide cover for sites across the Primary Care Sheffield group as required.
