Main duties of the job As a Sous Chef at Avery Healthcare, you will be part of a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care for residents. Your primary role is to support the head chef in managing a culinary team that delivers nutritionally balanced and high-quality meals contributing to the well-being of residents within budget constraints. Responsibilities include preparing modified diets in line with IDDSI guidance, supervising culinary staff, ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene, and supporting staff in understanding the Avery Food safety management system. Ideal candidates must be caring, supportive, respectful, and accountable. Qualifications required include a relevant catering qualification like City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent, with at least one year of catering experience. You must demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering excellent culinary services to the residents. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial to tackling various responsibilities at short notice. ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus asSous Chefwill be tosupportthe head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive,and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved withinbudget.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance. Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities. Understandingthe principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards. Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.

Qualifications Essential
