Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified experienced radiographer to gain the relevant qualifications required to become a trust wide advanced reporting practitioner. This individual will join the existing team of advanced radiographer practitioners reporting musculoskeletal with a future expectation to continue their training to become competent to report chest and abdominal images. . The radiographer reporting service at the Trust supports an immediate 12 hours, 7-day service and scope of practice includes all referral groups. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to this pattern of work. The candidate will be expected to enrole on the image interpretation course at Bradford University, to gain a postgraduate certificate in MSK Reporting with the expectation of continuing this qualification to include chest and abdominal reporting. Once image interpretation qualification is achieved the candidate will qualify as a Radiography Advanced Practitioner, and remuneration at commensurate banding will be completed.

The service operates across all three hospital sites (Dewsbury, Pinderfields and Pontefract), and at the new Community Diagnostic Centre based in Wakefield, offering a number of diagnostic imaging investigations closer to home. This role is based at Pinderfields, but there is an expectation to work across all sites.

The posts current job plan comprises 70% reporting and 30% advanced practice duties to cover the other domains of advanced practice.

Main duties of the job

To undertake a leadership role as part of the radiology team responsible for providing an efficient imaging service and ensuring high quality images. Undertake postgraduate academic and clinical education in image interpretation.

Based on a specific base site, but maintaining a rotation across the other Trust sites, the advanced practitioner will work with the consultant radiographer to provide leadership in general radiography and be responsible for his/her clinical work and professional development. To perform a comprehensive range of radiographic procedures, without supervision, both within the department and externally, e.g. Theatre, Wards.

A 7 day reporting service is already in operation at the MY trust and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the running of this service.

Develop the skills and expertise to independently interpret radiographs and support service and staff developments, the advancement of staff and skills and undertake reflective, evaluation of practice.

Experience

Post graduate experience in diagnostic radiography Evidence of a comprehensive range of radiographic experience. Experience of managing complex clinical situations. Ability to protocol and manage complex referrals. Experience of clinical audit. Experience of contribution towards management of workloads and resources. Evidence of participating in out of hours radiography service
