We are seeking an experienced and reliable Locum Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. You will provide high-quality general practice nursing care, supporting our permanent team during busy periods, sickness cover, or practice expansion.
Main duties of the job
Treatment Room: Wound care, dressings, ear care, and suture/staple removal (where competent). Immunisations & Vaccinations: Childhood and travel immunisations (including relevant PGDs). Chronic Disease Management: Supporting/running clinics for asthma, COPD, and diabetes. Cervical Cytology: Performing cervical screening in line with current guidelines Patient Records: Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous patient records and clinical coding.

Job description Job responsibilities
Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions. Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness. Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines. Suture removal. Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines. Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines. Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written). Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained. Confidentially of information gained at work must be preserved at all times. Provide management of chronic diseases such as Diabetes, COPD and Asthma Contribute to the assessment of service needs. Assist patients to identify their health needs. Manage and organise individual patient consultations. Aware of identification and reporting procedures related to professional standards. To attend staff meetings. Identify changes to clinical practice that are required to implement evidence-based guidelines. Support others with their training and development needs. To participate in continuing education and maintain a contemporary level of professional knowledge and skills. Maintain good industrial relations. Take reasonable care of his/her own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by his/her act or omission. Facilitates a learning environment within the team. Maintains a caring environment through the support of colleagues.

Qualifications Essential
Registered General Nurse (RNA/RGN) Current valid NMC Registration Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) Recognised qualification in Asthma/COPD/Diabetes Cervical Cytology training certificate
Desirable
Minimum 1-2 years working in a UK GP practice Experience in autonomous treatment room care Proven experience in childhood immunisations Independent Nurse Prescriber status Experience leading clinical audits
