We are looking for a Finance & Payroll Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team on a temporary basis for up to 18 months. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your payroll and finance experience while contributing to a growing organisation that values accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
You'll play a key role in helping to deliver an efficient payroll service, supporting employee benefits administration, and assisting with a variety of finance activities and projects. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
This temporary 18-month exciting opportunity is located at our main base in Hazel Grove, Stockport. The hours are part time 22.5 hours per week, Rate of Pay £14.50 per hour

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Temporary Finance & Payroll Assistant to join our team. This role will support the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll service while assisting with a range of finance, employee benefits, and administrative projects.
Due to the nature of payroll processing, the successful candidate must be flexible and committed to being available on key payroll processing dates each month (typically two designated days per month).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll or finance administration experience who enjoys working with data, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description Job responsibilities
Payroll Administration
The duties will include, but are not limited to:
Support the delivery of the monthly payroll process, including starters, leavers, contractual changes and payroll adjustments.
NHS pension-related administration.
Manage payroll deductions, including Salary Sacrifice and associated Benefits in Kind (BIK).
Manage the payroll inbox and maintain accurate system records.
Support annual payroll activities including year-end activities and statutory reporting.
Benefits & Employee Administration
Support the administration of employee benefits, salary sacrifice schemes and employee recognition programmes.
Support with promotion of employee benefits including co-ordinating Circle Finance sessions for staff.
Support with Policy updates and reporting where required
Finance Administration
Provide administrative support to the Finance Team, including Accounts Payable and Management Accounting activities.
Assist with invoice processing, reconciliations, reporting and other routine finance tasks.
Support finance and payroll improvement projects and ad-hoc administrative activities
Person Specification
General Qualities Essential
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time management skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Able to commit to being available on designated payroll processing dates each month. Flexibility around working hours on these dates is essential to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
Experience Essential
Previous payroll, finance administration, or accounts administration experience. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Experience using payroll, HR, or finance systems (Sage experience desirable).
