Main duties of the job

UHS Estates Limited are looking to recruit a Equipment & Instrumentation Controller to join ourgrowing service.

The Equipment & Controller team consists of 4 staff members plus a Supervisor. This team picks& checks the sterile sets for the procedures in the coming days, using the available systems tosupport this activity. Alongside this they proactively manage routine maintenance and servicingof theatre equipment, machinery etc, to ensure that downtime is minimised, to support thehighest levels of clinical activity.

As part of a small team, this postholder will work collaboratively to ensure that the rightequipment and instrumentation is in the right place, at the right time, thus contributing totheatre efficiency.

This team provide a service between 07:30-21:30. Rostered on different shifts to share theseduties.

The service supports the operating theatres, operating labs and a number of other areas of a24/7 acute teaching Hospital (University Hospital Southampton). Providing major trauma andcountless tertiary services across the South of England. Ensuring that the correct theatre isavailable, with the correct equipment, the correct consumables and surgical instrumentation, atthe correct time.

Person Specification

Qualifications / training required Essential

If English not first language, IELTS score of 7 or above Keyboard skills. Familiarity with Microsoft word and Excel NVQ level 3 in Customer Care/Public Services or equivalent level of experience

Previous or relevant experience necessary Essential

Logical and consistent work pattern

Knowledge of theatre/medical equipment gained through on the job learning within theatres/relevant clinical area Appreciation of the clinical environment and an understanding of its changing needs
