Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Prosthetist to join our team in Cambridge. This role is a fixed term contract (FTC) of 12 months for maternity cover.
You would be joining a friendly and motivated team, with Prosthetists, Orthotists, Physiotherapists and a Rehabilitation consultant on site; allowing collaboration and comprehensive patient-centred care. Working within a multidisciplinary team encourages knowledge sharing, professional development, and innovative problem-solving for complex clinical cases. Main duties of the job
Demonstrates sound clinical experience across a diverse range of patient groups and conditions and applies expert problem-solving skills and clinical reasoning to provide evidence-based care. Provides expert second opinions and clinical guidance, leading multidisciplinary team (MDT) decision-making and supporting complex case management. Works independently within established protocols, adhering to prescription guidelines with minimal supervision. Supports and advises colleagues on cost-effective clinical solutions, ensuring alignment with prescription guidelines and service standards. Leads training and development initiatives, mentoring less experienced clinicians, overseeing student placements and supporting graduate and work experience programmes. Delivers professional training and presentations to internal teams, external stakeholders, and at clinical or academic forums. Engages in regular CPD activities, including reflective practice, to maintain and develop clinical knowledge, and shares learning to enhance team-wide clinical knowledge. Actively leads audits, service evaluations, and local or cross-centre research providing guidance to colleagues on accurate documentation, data integrity, and effective written communication. Demonstrates strong awareness of key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring practice aligns with service expectations and supporting colleagues to meet performance standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics, or equivalent HCPC registered
Desirable
Full driving licence Relevant MSc, or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical area. Practice educator training BAPO member ISPO member
Experience Essential
Highly developed interpersonal skills including formal and informal communication Proven record of working within an active, fast paced clinical environment Evidence of involvement in specialist clinical focus within discipline through teaching, research or demonstrated skill Experience of having an active, leadership role in an MDT environment Working proactively and collaboratively in the team and wider trust Interest in service development and/or evidence of involvement Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting priorities
Desirable
Published evidence of specialist work within clinical field. Sound working knowledge of Rehapp. Experience mentoring students or graduates Knowledge or experience with CAD/CAM
