Discovery Biotherapeutics at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join our dynamic team supporting biologics drug discovery and multispecifics engineering. This position will contribute to projects through the discovery and engineering of biopharmaceutical products.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in antibody and multispecifics design and production, molecular biology, and have knowledge of antibody fragments and mimetics. Additional desirable skills include expertise in antibody engineering, protein purification, and familiarity with sequence analysis tools. The candidate should be able to analyze, document, and report data, possess excellent communication skills, and feel comfortable presenting in group settings.
BS or MS in biology or related discipline with typically 5-8+ years (BS), or 2-5+ years (MS) of pharmaceutical and/or relevant experienceProtein, biologics, fragments, and multi-specifics purificationMammalian cell culture for protein expressionIn vitro analytical techniques for protein characterization (e.g. SEC, MS, DSF)Strong molecular biology skills (e.g. molecular cloning)Familiarity with sequence analysis tools (Vector NTI, Geneious, Genedata)Excellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and the ability to execute on multiple projects simultaneouslyTeam player capable of operating in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, adapting to rapid changes in project priorities and timelinesProficiency with software programs including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and WordPreferred Qualifications:
Experience with antibody engineering, design, and optimizationExperience overseeing CROs for DNA and protein productionHands-on experience with SEC, HIC, IEX purification of complex biologics utilizing AKTA platformsExperience utilizing automation (e.g. Hamilton, AssayMap, Kingfisher) equipment in biologics discovery processesProficiency in mass spectrometry interpretation for complex biologicsProficiency with software programs: Geneious, Genedata, UnicornPosition will be hired based on level of experience - Scientist I or Scientist II

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
