Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Summary:
The Clinical Support Specialist is a versatile role that supports the healthcare team through real-time medical documentation (scribing) and basic clinical intake. This position is designed for professionals who provide essential clinical and administrative assistance but do not hold a national medical assistant certification. The primary goal is to enhance provider efficiency and ensure accurate documentation of the patient's encounter.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Accompany the provider into the exam room to document the clinical visit in real time in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Accurately transcribe the History of Present Illness (HPI), physical exam findings, and the provider's assessment and plan.
• Ensure all clinical documentation is completed promptly for provider review and signature, maintaining high standards for grammar and medical terminology.
• Escort patients from the waiting area to the examination room.
• Obtain and record accurate vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, O2 saturation, height, and weight).
• Update basic patient information in the EHR, including the reason for the visit and current pharmacy information.
• Prepare exam rooms between patients, ensuring surfaces are disinfected and supplies are restocked.
• Assist providers with non-invasive patient care tasks such as handing instruments or positioning patients for exams.
• Prepare laboratory requisition forms and label specimens (e.g., urine or swabs) for processing or transport.
• Monitor provider schedules to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Route simple patient messages to the appropriate clinical staff via the EHR "In-Basket."
• Assist with patient check-out by providing printed summaries and scheduling follow-up appointments.

• Arrives at work on time and ready to start the report. Manages time wisely throughout the shift and is prepared to leave work when the bedside report is complete.

Regulatory Requirements:
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting (hospital, clinic, or nursing home) or completion of a Medical Assistant or CNA training program is preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
• Typing Proficiency for Scribing: Ability to type 60+ WPM with high accuracy while listening to the provider-patient interaction.
• Medical Literacy: Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and common medications.
• Confidentiality: Strict adherence to HIPAA Privacy Rules regarding all patient data.
• Technology: Proficient in using EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Athena, or Cerner) and standard office software
