JOB TITLE: Pre-Operative / PACU Description: Direct and be accountable for the nursing care of patients in the Pre-Operative Assessment and Testing outpatient setting Ability to teach and share knowledge with ancillary services (anesthesia), and physicians in patient preparation for surgical procedures Ability to multi-task with excellent telephone communication and charting skills Strong empathy when dealing with the patient and family undergoing surgical interventions Organize and deliver pre-operative patient education, based on the specific needs for the patient Task include gathering histories and performing physicals, use anesthesia guidelines for pre-operative testing if not previously ordered by surgeon Gather and evaluate lab work, EKG's, and surgical clearances
