THE POSITION
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to work in our rotation shift at our Delta Plant. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled activities ranging from but not limited to electrical safety improvements, maintenance, modification, repair, and projects in the trades of welding, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, pressurized air systems & steam boilers, trouble shooting, electrical HV & LV maintenance, machine modification, repair & re-wiring, and projects in the trades of electrical, High Voltage (600VAC & 240VAC) & Low Voltage (120VAC & 24VDC) work on all buildings and production equipment owned by Sunrise Markets Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the boiler, refrigeration, plant equipment and processing systems.
• Assists in the Root Cause Analysis process to determine the immediate cause and help develop sustaining counter-measures for electrical & automation related downtime
• Inputs into the computerized maintenance management system, the work performed, inventory, materials and equipment used and other comments as required in detail.
• Inspect, examine and troubleshoot equipment to find and investigate problems or breakdowns and to ensure that safety and quality standards are met.
• Assists in the electrical design, fabrication and installation of new production equipment and re-engineering of existing production lines or equipment to ensure that continuous improvement and/or safety objectives are met
• Responsible for engaging in manufacturing support activities connected with the setup, installation and maintenance of production and related equipment, designing and programming electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical control systems
• Demonstrate the ability to install, dismantle, reassemble, replace, calibrate, repair, adjust, fabricate, lubricate, and maintain systems and equipment as assigned.
• Follow a Preventive Maintenance schedule.
• Reports observations of any deviation from the process/procedure or a defect or non-conformance to the product, which may result in a situation requiring food safety assessment and placing the product on hold or scrapping the product to the management immediately
• Liaison with contractors & suppliers on projects & initiatives as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Shift Foreman and Director of Engineering
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Frequent ladder climbing and kneeling down to repair machinery.
• Exposure to loud noises and required to wear various personal protective equipment while working.
• Available to work any shift.
• Must possess strength, energy and mobility to perform heavy physical lifting of machinery and parts is essential. Lifting up to 50lbs
• Ability to operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, boom-lifts, scissor lifts, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
• Red Seal Ticket in either Millwright or Industrial Electrician
• Class 4th power engineer.
• Be a proficient trouble shooter of a mechanical system
• Be comfortable performing maintenance calls independently or as part of a team
• Want to build their career with an exciting and dynamic team around them
• ·Additional Tickets, such as gas ticket (Level A/Level B), welding ticket (TIG/MIG), etc., will be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager
• Minimum 5 years PLC experience, troubleshooting & programming PLC ladder logic and Variable Speed Drives
• Additional Tickets such as Field Safety Rep - FSR Class ‘B' or Class ‘A'.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• A valid BC driver's license is a definite asset
• Valid First Aid Ticket, Forklift operators' ticket, boom-lift/ scissor lift operating ticket, nice to have
• Ability to interpret Ladder Logic, Relay logic & configure & troubleshoot PLCs & VSDs
• Willing to work overtime whenever required.
