Summary
The Quality Control & Shipping Lead for the Winnemucca, NV farm is responsible for overseeing daily laboratory operations, quality control activities, and shipping coordination to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with established standards. This role performs and oversees analytical testing processes, monitors product quality, maintains accurate traceability records, and manages shipping documentation and inventory tracking. The Quality Control & Shipping Lead serves as a primary point of contact for customers, trucking companies, and logistics personnel, ensuring effective communication, timely shipments, and accurate product information. Through collaboration with operations, customers, carriers, and laboratory personnel, this position helps maintain product integrity and ensures excellent service from storage to delivery.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Manage daily laboratory functions to ensure product meets established quality standards.
• Oversee and execute analytical laboratory testing of product samples.
• Inspect raw materials, monitor lab equipment calibrations, and verify sanitation standards.
• Monitor product quality and report quality-related concerns and incidents.
• Collaborate with operations and laboratory personnel to maintain quality parameters.
• Track field, lot, and storage information to ensure product traceability.
• Complete training programs for laboratory personnel.
• Maintain laboratory organization and supply inventories.
• Organize and maintain paper and electronic records for accurate and efficient traceability.
• Coordinate potato shipments to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on schedule.
• Check in trucks and inspect trailers to verify readiness for loading and compliance with quality standards.
• Process shipping documentation and maintain accurate shipment records.
• Coordinate load schedules and communicate loading times with drivers, customers, and logistics personnel.
• Enter shipment, inventory, and load data into multiple computer systems and databases.
• Maintain accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation of product movements.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, trucking companies, and logistics team.
• Respond to customer and carrier questions regarding product quality, shipment status, inventory availability and delivery coordination.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and transportation partners through professional and timely communication.
• Assist with potato grading, sorting, and other operations activities as needed to support successful farm operations and contribute to a Winning Teamwork environment.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows applications and the ability to accurately enter and maintain data in multiple computer systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, carriers, and internal team members.
• Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and collaborate with others in a team environment.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and measurements.
• Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one, and ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
• Ability to work in laboratory, warehouse, storage, and outdoor agricultural environments.
Desired Qualifications
• Two (2) or more years of experience in quality control, laboratory operations, food production, or a related field.
• Previous experience in agriculture, potato production, food processing, or a related industry.
• Experience with shipping coordination, inventory management, logistics, or customer service.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions with limited supervision.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
• Experience with quality assurance programs, product traceability, or inventory tracking systems.

Expected Hours of Work
• Typical week is 40-55 hours per week, including some weekends with occasional hours outside this window during peak times (Planting/Harvest).
