We are now looking for a motivated Test Engineer (R&D) who is passionate about product quality, testing excellence, and collaborative engineering.

About the Role

As a Test Engineer in our R&D organization, you will be involved in testing Ascom products throughout the development lifecycle. You will create and execute manual and automated tests, verify system integrations, and ensure that our software and hardware products meet the required specifications and compliance standards.

The software products deploys over Azure cloud, Private cloud and as Appliance and the verification of the software product over these platforms as well as the verification of the platforms are part of the scope for the Test Engineer.

The role is local to Cluj or within commute distance with an office presence of more than two days a week. The role is regular employment and not a contractor.

With Ascom being an organization spanning multiple countries with both R&D and Region/Sales you will have to be able to travel to a limited extent for intra R&D work as well as customer interaction.

You need to be fluent in spoken and written English as well as Romanian.

What You Will Do

• Perform integration and verification testing of Ascom products and systems.

• Collaborate closely with developers and cross‑functional R&D project members.

• Create and execute manual and automated test cases.

• Plan, execute, and document all test activities.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

• Identify improvement opportunities in the testing process.

• Report defects and follow up on fixes.

• Track and communicate test progress and results.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, or related field.

• 3–5 years of experience in similar testing roles.

• Experience in agile development environments.

• Familiarity with standard software testing processes and tools.

• Understanding of automated testing tools and scripting.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar is of value.
