Role Description

Department

The Department of Education at the University of York is internationally renowned for its work on mental health and wellbeing in school aged children. A recent collaborative project between the Department of Education and the PSHE Association (the national body for personal, social, health and economic education) resulted in the development of an innovative neuroscience-informed mental health and wellbeing curriculum for primary schools - called Foundations for Wellbeing. This project aims to capture the initial impact of Foundations for Wellbeing curriculum on changes to mental health and wellbeing provisions in primary schools in England and on children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Role

The Research Associate will support data collection, data analysis and write up of findings of the project under the guidance of Dr Dusana Dorjee. This will involve preparation of a mixed-methods survey and analysis of data gathered from the survey. In addition, they will conduct online focus groups with educators and analyse the qualitative data. Finally, the research associate will support write up of the findings of the project. They will work remotely throughout the project.

This is a part-time post working one day per week for 4 months duration.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

PhD in Psychology or Psychology in Education or Education Experience in evaluation of mental health or wellbeing interventions/curricula in schools using both quantitative and qualitative research methods Experience in writing up research for publication Ability to work as part of a team and also to work independently using own initiative
