Job description – R&D Laboratory Technician • Ensures safe working practices in laboratory and production environments, including the identification and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and/or microbiological media. • Ensures adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), including quality procedures, material traceability, consumables management, waste disposal, hygiene protocol, and laboratory housekeeping. • Performs microbiological analyses in a laboratory with Bio Safety Level-1 classification, in compliance with established procedures, working under minimal supervision. • Handling of non-pathogenic bacteria and phage media in accordance with defined protocols. • Cultivates, measures, and validates microbiological media required for the defined test methods. • Executes microbiological test methods including result evaluation and impact analysis of test variables. • Participates in routine laboratory operations, including document management, procedure drafting, and chemical ordering. • Ensures the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of traceability documentation (records, tools, and reports). • Maintains laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness, proper functioning, and compliance with maintenance requirements. • Coordinates and reviews work and test requests, communicates results effectively, and prepares clear and structured reports. • Supports R&D activities, including test preparation, execution, data analysis, complaint investigations, and quality control. • Organizes and manages day-to-day laboratory testing activities in line with operational priorities. • Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, safety, and quality. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree (BAC+3 or BAC+2) as a Laboratory Technician, ideally with a specialization in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline (e.g., BTS in Laboratory Technology). • +2 years of practical experience in a biological/microbiological laboratory with at least biosafety level 1(BSL-1) is an advantage. • Good knowledge of laboratory method development, method validation, and statistical analysis. • Good working knowledge of basic microbiological techniques and practical experience in handling bacteria and viruses is considered a plus. • Strong team spirit, with demonstrated resilience, flexibility, and a high level of commitment. • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Luxembourgish, German, or French is considered an asset.
