About this role
As an Electro-mechanical Design Engineer you will join our team in Birmingham to support our activities within the Aerospace sector.
You will be working on the design and development of high-integrity electro-mechanical systems, supporting R&D and product development programmes. The role involves close collaboration with electrical engineering teams and hands-on involvement across the full design lifecycle, from concept through to prototype build and validation.

Develop 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for electro-mechanical components and assembliesProduce drawings using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) in line with BS8888 or ASME Y14.5 standardsSupport the mechanical design of electric motors, inverters, and power converter systems (or demonstrate transferable experience)Perform engineering calculations including stress analysis and tolerance stack-ups to justify design decisionsCollaborate closely with Electrical Engineers to support ECAD/MCAD integrationProduce clear technical reports and documentation to support design schemes and reviewsSupport prototype build, integration, and design validation activities Required Skills:
Proficiency in NX and TeamcenterStrong understanding of 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing creationExperience producing drawings with GD&T to recognised standards (BS8888 / ASME Y14.5)Experience in electric motor design or ability to clearly demonstrate transferable experienceExperience in inverter or power converter design or related electro-mechanical systemsStrong collaboration skills, particularly working with Electrical / ECAD teamsAbility to carry out engineering calculations (stress, tolerance stack-ups, design justification)Strong technical report writing skillsRequired Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.Experience working in aerospace, automotive, or other safety-critical engineering environmentsKnowledge of engineering standards and structured design processesDesirable Skills:
Practical machining experience (lathe, mill, workshop-based manufacturing)Hands-on assembly and prototype build experiencePrior exposure to aerospace or safety-critical product development programmes Why join us?
