Role overview
The Pre-Doctoral Research Assistant will provide research support to faculty members in the Economics area at London Business School. The post is intended for individuals planning to apply to PhD programmes in economics or closely related fields.
The role involves close collaboration on new and ongoing research projects. Research areas may include, but are not limited to:
Economic growth and productivity Innovation International economics and finance Empirical macroeconomics Empirical microeconomics
Research tasks will involve a combination of empirical and theoretical work, drawing on both micro- and macro-level data. Duties may include data collection and construction, statistical analysis, computational work, replication of results, and contributing to the preparation of academic research outputs.
The post holder will be expected to engage with the School's academic life, including attending seminars and workshops. Subject to approval, the post holder may take up to one PhD-level course per term.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
Candidates should have:
By the start date, a completed bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics or a related discipline A strong quantitative background Experience with programming languages used in macroeconomic research, in particular Matlab, Python, or Julia Experience with statistical software, in particular R or Stata (or equivalent)
