Job PurposeThe Head of Legal Tech Enablement leads the team of legal engineers, document automation specialists and eDiscovery experts within Innovation & Intelligence, driving the strategic direction and implementation of legal tech initiatives across Dentons Europe. This role is critical to transforming legal service delivery through technology-enabled innovation, automation, and process optimisation, delivering measurable value to clients and the firm.
The role encompasses responsibility for the broader legal engineering team, including direct management of Senior Legal Engineers. The Head of Legal Tech Enablement collaborates with firm leadership, practice groups, and business services to identify technology-driven innovation opportunities.
Key activities include defining legal technology strategy, overseeing automation solutions, legal process re-engineering, tool development and deployment, vendor management (with day-to-day vendor coordination delegated to Senior Legal Engineers and Legal Engineers), stakeholder management, and budget oversight.

Reports and team scopeThe Head of Legal Tech Enablement is expected to have approximately 2 direct reports (Senior Legal Engineers) and will be indirectly responsible for approximately 5 team members in total (2 Senior Legal Engineers, 2 Legal Engineers, 1 Junior Legal Engineer). The team may be distributed across multiple Dentons offices.

Define and execute legal technology strategy and roadmap aligned with firm objectivesIdentify strategic opportunities for technology adoption, automation, and process innovation across practice areasLead business case development and analysis for technology investmentsEstablish and track KPIs for legal engineering initiativesDrive thought leadership and represent the firm at external legal technology forums and industry eventsMonitor legal tech market trends and emerging technologies, advising leadership on strategic implicationsExecution and Core Delivery
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of legal technology solutions including automation tools, workflows, and applicationsLead complex, high-value legal engineering projects from inception through deliveryEnsure seamless integration of legal technology solutions with existing firm systems and infrastructureDirect vendor evaluation, selection, and relationship management for legal technology platformsChampion process re-engineering initiatives to optimise legal service deliveryMaintain hands-on involvement in critical projects requiring senior technical expertisePeople Management

EducationBachelor's degree in Law preferred and/or Computer Science, Engineering, Social Sciences or related field Advanced degree (Master's/MBA) in Technology, Legal Innovation, or related discipline (preferred)Legal qualification (law degree or equivalent)ExperienceMinimum 5-6 years in legal technology, legal engineering, or legal operationsProven track record of leading legal technology initiatives in a law firm, corporate legal department, or legal tech companyExperience in strategic planning, business case development, and stakeholder management at senior levelsDirect experience with legal workflow automation, document automation, process design, or legal application developmentBackground in consulting, legal operations transformation, or change management is a plusSpecialized knowledgeDeep understanding of legal processes, workflows, and service delivery modelsExpert knowledge of legal technology ecosystem including automation platforms, document assembly tools, matter management systems, and emerging AI/ML applications in legalStrong understanding of legal practice area requirements and challengesKnowledge of data governance, information security, and regulatory compliance in legal contextsSkills and competenciesTechnical skills
