Key Responsibilities As R&D Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the technology vision of IDtech and leading a team of engineers in the development of advanced software and embedded solutions. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction, ensuring our products are robust, scalable, and future-proof. You will: Define and drive the R&D roadmap in collaboration with Product Management and Leadership. Lead a team of developers and engineers, mentoring them in modern software practices. Translate complex business requirements into clear architectural designs based on domain driven design (DDD) principles. Guide the adoption of microservices architectures and API-first development across the product portfolio. Ensure efficient containerized deployments and robust DevOps pipelines (CI/CD, Kubernetes, monitoring, automation). Oversee the integration of embedded systems and IoT technologies with cloud services. Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. Skills & Qualifications We are looking for someone who combines technical expertise with leadership skills: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Proven experience in cloud-native software development. Deep knowledge of DDD, microservices, and API-first principles. Hands-on background with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with embedded development and IoT ecosystems. Strong people management skills: ability to coach, inspire, and grow a multidisciplinary team. Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong focus on delivering business value. Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch and/or French are a plus).
