Job Description
Formulates, monitors and implements investment policies to manage assigned portfolios. Devises and implements investment strategies and processes to meet client goals and constraints, constructs and manage portfolios and makes decisions on what and when to buy and sell investments.
Responsibilities
Investment Management Develop and amend investment models to provide input to senior colleagues and/or help manage assigned portfolios.
Insights and Reporting Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
Organizational Risk Management Keep track of risk parameters, identifying any deviations and reporting them to more senior colleagues. Involves working within established risk management systems.
Sell Customer Propositions Identify the products or services that best meet the customer's stated needs, use personal expertise to propose quantities and product configurations, explain the selection to the customer, and invite the customer to make a purchase at the standard price/terms and conditions of sale.
Recommendations Advise others on how to design new processes and systems that meet professional standards.
Improvement/Innovation Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures, then deliver a plan for a small element of a change management program with guidance from a project/program manager.
Internal Client Relationship Management Build effective working relationships within the internal client organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from senior colleagues.
Financial Management and Control Track progress against budgets within established finance systems, and report variances to more senior colleagues.
Data Collection and Analysis Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Needs Assessment Investigate questions relating to existing programs, processes, and procedures.
Data Management Help others get the most out of data management systems by providing support and advice.
Personal Capability Building Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
• Contribute to the development of an implementation plan that meets the client's expectations and requirements.
• Manage the implementation of operating procedures as well as monitor the quality, service standards and operational processes related to the applicable product or solution. • Collaborate with clients to facilitate product training interventions to create awareness regarding the processes and operational aspects of the product. • Manage the broker / intermediary solutions embedded with a client and ensure that optimum business flows from the solution. • Continuously identify new broker / intermediary solution opportunities within the client's environment. • Identify innovative methods to maximise broker / intermediary solution sales opportunities within the client portfolio. • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required:
• Grade 12 with Insurance Level IV qualification. • Relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous • NQF Level – Degree Advance Diploma or postgraduate Certificate or equivalent • 5 – 8 years' experience in Underwriting and leading a team of Portfolio Managers. • 3 – 5 years' experience in insurance sales.
