About this role

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute study the host genetic control on the rumen microbiota composition and develop microbiome-driven breeding towards lower methane emissions in cattle. The successful candidate will join a new recently created group in the areas of livestock hologenomics, including quantitative genomics and metagenomics, and participate in a large international consortium to include the metagenome as a new tool in breeding programs. The role is ideal for a researcher with a PhD with experience on quantitative genetics and metagenomics. MSc with excellent records will also be considered. The post is full-time (35 hours per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

Expertise in animal breeding, quantitative genetics, quantitative genomics, and metagenomics. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, towards research group and individual objectives. Track record of research output of high quality and technical skills.
