We are looking for an inspiring, supportive, and forward‑thinking Lecturer in Civil Engineering to join our collegial Civil Engineering team at an exciting time of growth and transformation within the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (SECAM).

About the Role

We seek a Lecturer who will contribute primarily to teaching and research in Structural Analysis and Design, supporting our undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programmes.

The role includes:

Delivering high‑quality, engaging teaching across a range of Civil Engineering disciplines Contributing to inspiring, professionally‑focused learning experiences Participating in internationalisation opportunities (including potential overseas teaching) Taking part in widening participation activities

You will also have full use of our new Heavy Structures, Materials and Geotechnics laboratories, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities to support both teaching and research. You’ll join an active team of Civil, Structural and Coastal Engineers with established research portfolios that you can help develop further.

This role requires on‑site working; unfortunately, we are unable to offer working from home.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to undertaking this research.

You should have:

A PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline Ideally, industrial experience in structural engineering and Chartered Engineer status A passion for creating innovative, engaging teaching materials A collaborative, team‑focused approach Willingness to teach across a relevant range of undergraduate Civil Engineering subjects Evidence of high‑quality pedagogic or discipline‑based research outputs Ideally, experience of attracting research funding
