The position is suitable for a versatile individual, capable of covering a variety of local topics independently. The work environment encourages close ties with the community and a field-based approach.</div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Critical Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Propose and develop original subjects to cover based on local news; ability to break new ground</li> <li>Cover events for TV and digital, conduct interviews, write texts</li> <li>Shoot his or her own images; set up / edit / shed light on and produce news reports for both TV and digital</li> <li>Deliver live or pre-recorded content as needed for news bulletins</li> <li>Adapt formats to digital trends</li> <li>Maintain a network of contacts relevant to the region</li> <li>Follow editorial standards and guidelines regarding accuracy, ethics and legal issues</li> <li>Ensure that equipment and cell phone are in good working order</li> <li>Configure and use live equipment as needed</li> <li>Perform any other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Preferred Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul type="disc"> <li>Bachelor’s degree in journalism, film, communications or the equivalent</li> <li>Minimum of five years of experience in television / the Internet</li> <li>Proven experience in news reporting, and ability to perform in front of the camera</li> <li>Strong writing and storytelling skills and knowledge of local, national and international news and current events</li> <li>Excellent writing and presentation skills</li> <li>Good understanding of social media and its audience</li> <li>Proven filming and editing abilities</li> <li>Proven organizational skills, and ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines</li> <li>Good editorial judgment; demonstrated ability to produce original, enterprising news reports</li> <li>Ability to manage new and emerging technologies</li> <li>Knowledge of iNews an asset</li> <li>Valid driver’s licence and good record</li> <li>Sufficient knowledge of French is required for positions in Québec.</li> </ul></div></div></div> Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
