While hours will be scheduled as per newsroom requirements, a typical shift would begin at 4am weekdays. <ul> <li>Writing scripts and editing video for news and lifestyle segments with minimal direction and supervision</li> <li>Work efficiently under tight deadlines without jeopardizing accuracy or quality</li> <li>Exceptional news judgement and knowledge of editorial best practices</li> <li>Newscast production, including building and executing lineup prior to broadcast and in control room.</li> <li>Booking and coordinating interview guests as well as producing guest segments</li> <li>Adapting to rapidly changing program situations</li> <li>Strong leadership skills, positive and proactive attitude, excellent independent problem-solving abilities </li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Critical Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>Post-secondary education in television/broadcast production</li> <li>2 years experience in a newsroom environment</li> <li>Experience writing and producing live newscasts</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to write to pictures and proven experience in broadcast writing style</li> <li>Fundamental knowledge of iNews, Avid Media Composer, and live control room skills</li> <li>Excellent research, analytical and communication skills </li> <li>Strong editorial sense. Thoroughness, accuracy, a sense of priority. Ability to take initiative, responsibility as well as consult with the team </li> <li>Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressure of on-air deadlines and corollary need to make immediate and sound decisions</li> <li>Knowledge of the Edmonton news market is an asset</li> </ul></div></div></div> Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
