The ideal candidate will have experience in building optical systems, aligning them, and performing various optical tests to ensure performance and reliability, working with complex parts, assemblies for engineering prototypes, unique products, or low-volume manufacturing. These individuals will need to be able to operate optical manufacturing equipment and inspect the optics for surface quality and defects. Experience using LAS Opto-alignment systems is a must. Individuals should be familiar with various precision manufacturing techniques used to fabricate, integrate and validate optics. Additional activities may include performing optical testing such as MTF, EFL, Distortion and Concentricity. Members work in engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions, procedures, process specifications, schematics, sketches or verbal instructions.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Essential Functions:</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Perform optical alignment work in manufacturing and/or prototyping environment</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Read engineering drawings/blueprints/schematics and detailed work instructions</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Ability to work with fragile and precise assemblies</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Direct experience with one or more of the Following, Optical Interferometry, MTF testing, Lens bench testing, and Resolution testing</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Must be proficient with measuring tools (verniers, calipers, scales, etc.)</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Willingness to work overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays and some travel</span></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Qualifications:</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience; Or, 2 years post‑secondary/Associate Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Preferred Additional Skills:</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Optics Certification/Degree</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Experience in an Electrical/Mechanical/Optical fabrication discipline</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Aerospace or Defense industry experience</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Experience with measurement and analysis</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</span></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $45,000-$84,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
