The Environmental Specialist will drive environmental and sustainability initiatives, support risk reduction efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement in EHS performance across aerospace and defense operations. This role will work cross-functionally to provide EHS support during facility expansion, space planning, and operational changes. The Environmental Specialist will play a key role in incident investigation, regulatory compliance, training, inspections, and ensuring a proactive safety culture.</span></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Essential Functions:</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations<br>• Utilize thorough knowledge of federal and state air, industrial wastewater, potable water, domestic wastewater, stormwater, U.S. DOT, regulated waste management, spill prevention control and countermeasure plans (SPCCP), Tier II and TRI reporting, and emergency response (HAZWOPER) regulations to complete daily tasks and reports<br>• Responsible for sustainability data metrics reporting of EHS performance through the Gensuite software<br>• Work extensively with the EHS chemical tracking database for the generation of all environmental program reports<br>• Ensure appropriate personnel are properly trained in regulated waste management, stormwater, spill prevention control and countermeasure plans (SPCCP), and HAZWOPER as well as in areas determined by segment EHS leadership<br>• Effectively interact with multiple levels of personnel including senior management and government agencies<br>• Complete multiple environmental compliance reports and permit requirements, with accuracy and attention to detail, while meeting multiple regulatory and segment deadlines<br>• Quickly synthesize technical and program information and apply regulatory requirements<br>• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance</span></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Qualifications:</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience</span><br><br></p> <p> </p> <p><strong><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Preferred Additional Skills:</span></strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Majority of experience and education in the environmental programs portion of EHS</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Experience in multiple environmental compliance programs and supervising staff and contractors</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA)</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Experience leading environmental programs in a manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environment</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Demonstrated experience with sustainability program development and implementation</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective action processes</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Experience in hazardous waste management and environmental permitting</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and other voluntary EHS management systems</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification</span><br><span style="font-family:verdana, geneva, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications</span></p>
