The primary role of a Machinist is to set up and operate manual machines to produce precision parts and instruments. This position involves a variety of manufacturing operations related to the fabrication and machining of precision parts and sheet metal. The Machinist will apply their knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to ensure high-quality production.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><strong> </strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Essential Functions: </strong></span></p> <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, drills, and machinist hand tools.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Understand and operate conversational milling machines and acu-rite digital readouts.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Work with various types of materials to produce high-quality products within drawing specifications.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Select appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and position or load material for the job.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Determine and program the size of batches, speed of the machine, etc.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Monitor machines while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature, and identify issues.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Qualifications: </strong></span></p> <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of proven relevant experience.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, etc.).</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Ability to use English and Metric measuring tools (e.g., micrometer, calipers, and associated machinist measuring tools) to take accurate measurements.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals and understand tolerances for the fabrication process.</span></li> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Strong math and analytical abilities.</span></li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><strong>Preferred Additional Skills:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Prototyping experience is a plus</span></li> </ul> <p style="font-size:14.0pt"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><span>In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $58,240 MIN - $70,720 MAX. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is <span style="font-size:14.0pt">$58,240 MIN - $70,720 MAX</span>.
