The responsibilities of your role will include the following: <ul> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Defining and executing the engineering strategy to deliver IPMS capability to the Astute platform in compliance with established business processes and procedures. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Lead a small cross-functional engineering team to deliver programme objectives across cost, quality, and schedule performance. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Collaborate closely with Programme and Project Managers to identify and develop new opportunities, define technical scope, and support cost estimation and delivery planning. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Report programme progress to the business through the use of performance metrics, proactively highlighting risks, issues, and concerns. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Serve as the primary customer point of contact for all engineering and technical matters, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues throughout the programme lifecycle.</li> </ul> What you’ll bring The role requires the following experience and skills: <ul> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Minimum of 7 years prior relevant experience technically leading defence programmes.</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Excellent understanding of systems concepts, context, boundaries, interfaces, system hierarchy and the principles of system partitioning in order to help manage complexity.</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Excellent planning communications and coordination skills with demonstrable experience of leading programme engineering teams. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Excellent IT skills (Experience with DOORS is essential; System Architect or Rhapsody would be beneficial).</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Experience of leading the technical aspects of a bid.</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Understands the characteristics of good quality requirements, elicitation methods and tools and good understanding of requirements engineering within Defence Projects.</li> </ul> Preferred Additional Skills: <ul> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Experience of working on submarine programmes. </li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Preferably have a Software Engineering background.</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Preferably have experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Knowledge of MODAF and DODAF architectural frameworks.</li> <li style="line-height:107%;font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">To “fill gaps" in the engineering team by quickly understanding wider engineering areas (outside of specialism) to support design and understand engineering strategies - EMC, Safety, ILS, etc.</li> </ul> Important to know Due to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
