Primary Purpose: The SME – Power Systems provides knowledge and expertise to maintain and improve electrical distribution equipment. Specific Key Accountabilities: <ul> <li>Provide applied engineering and technical skills in the areas of:</li> <li>Power systems studies</li> <li>Power systems design</li> <li>Power systems installation, including commissioning, startup, and training</li> <li>Power systems maintenance and repair</li> <li>Power systems troubleshooting</li> <li>Transformer oil analysis</li> <li>Insurance visits and completion of insurance recommendations as they pertain to power systems</li> <li>Coordination of work with TVA for annual maintenance of systems</li> <li>Arc Flash studies</li> <li>Short circuit analysis</li> <li>Electrical coordination</li> <li>Contingency planning</li> <li>He/she is the referent in the plant for any issue that may emerge in the areas covered above.</li> </ul> Roles and Responsibilities: Main Functions <ul> <li>Work with the engineering group to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new installations meets and exceeds performance expectations.</li> <li>Review and manage Vendor specifications and compile technical evaluations to support procurement.</li> <li>Ensure compliance standards with national safety and engineering standards are met.</li> <li>Provide the site with LOTO coordination supervision.</li> <li>Provide the site with ARC Flash compliance coordination and supervision.</li> <li>Participate in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.</li> <li>Ensure that condition and documentation preservation is performed.</li> <li>Participate in system functional performance testing.</li> <li>Identify system manual requirements and insure all documents are created.</li> <li>Document all baseline readings, settings, positions, and store for future reference. </li> <li>Capable of executing small to mid-size projects from inception to handover.</li> <li>Develop clear understanding of equipment’s intended function, communicate this understanding to engineering and maintenance team.</li> <li>Contractor coordination and contract management (writing Scope of Work, General Work Permits, Establishing Lock Out Tagout procedures, Reviewing Job Hazard Analysis, scheduling the work etc.).</li> <li>Performs Power Systems, Controls, Wiring and Equipment design.</li> <li>Supervise supplier interventions during installation, challenge solutions, and refine needs.</li> <li>Provide technical support for the Engineering Department for power, control, and data networking systems. </li> <li>Develop electrical, instrumentation, and drive systems planned maintenance activities.</li> <li>Assist in training of other team members on electrical standards and processes.</li> </ul> Technical Support of Operations <ul> <li>Defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan.</li> <li>Participate in process optimization. </li> <li>Provide input for development of a risk management plan that will anticipate risks that adversely impact operations.</li> <li>Analyze and diagnose equipment breakdowns, develop long term solutions or mitigation plans.</li> <li>Provide technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel.</li> <li>Utilize predictive and condition monitoring techniques to monitor equipment health.</li> <li>Estimation of maintenance costs and evaluation of alternatives.</li> <li>Develop forecasting methods of spare parts for electrical/controls equipment.</li> <li>Support procurement activities to source suppliers for various services and spare parts.</li> <li>Write technical specifications for repairs (quality control) and procurement.</li> <li>Establish replacement/rebuild programs (including vendor assessments).</li> <li>Application of scheduling and project management principles. </li> <li>Assess required tools and skills required for efficient maintenance of equipment.</li> <li>Assess and report safety hazards associated with electrical low- to medium-voltage equipment.</li> </ul> Leadership Comptencies, Technical Skills Requirement: Education and technical skills: <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.</li> <li>Minimum of 10 years of experience in power systems.</li> <li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.</li> <li>Strong problem solving, judgment, and critical thinking skills.</li> <li>Aptitude for detailed work requiring a high degree of accuracy.</li> <li>Good communication, high level of autonomy, collaboration and interpersonal skills are equally important.</li> <li>Perform, understand and communicate detailed information analysis and evaluation, and have a good track record working effectively within a team-based environment.</li> <li>Experienced with Reliability Centered Maintenance methods (development of Work Instructions, support Reliability Engineer and Techs, continuous improvement of equipment performance).</li> <li>Experienced with PLC Control and Safety management systems (able to read/ follow schematics, implement corrective actions, a solid understanding of the theories and good practices).
