JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for structural maintenance and repair on commercial aircraft types. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul> <li>Demonstrate how to use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment</li> <li>Ability to use manuals such as AMM, SRM, and IPC on how to perform work</li> <li>Ability to look up HazMat information and locate appropriate risk level and required PPE for use</li> <li>Ability to measure damage using applicable tools (machinist scale, dial calipers, depth gauge, micrometer)</li> <li>Ability to record length, width, and original thickness</li> </ul> JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Working knowledge or ability to acquire skills in the following: <ul> <li>Experience reading and interpreting Boeing and Airbus drawings.</li> <li>Reading and understanding aircraft technical documentation, task cards.</li> <li>EWIS Protection- Cover and protect wiring and components. </li> <li>Ability to repair: <ul style="list-style-type:circle"> <li>Wing planks</li> <li>Skins</li> <li>Door corners</li> <li>Wing spars </li> <li>Horizontal & Wing leading-edge</li> <li>Seat Tracks</li> <li>Floor beams</li> <li>Frames</li> </ul> </li> <li>Drilling holes in aircraft structure attaching brackets, hinges, braces, and clips</li> <li>Locating, drilling, and installing panels</li> <li>Corrosion removal techniques</li> <li>Allowable damage evaluation</li> <li>Use of torque wrenches and calibrated measuring tools</li> <li>Knowledge of ATA chapters</li> <li>Working in confined spaces and working at height.</li> <li>Additional functions as outlined by OJT sheet</li> </ul> WORKING ENVIRONMENT: SUPERVISION: Under the general direction of a supervisor. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion. INTERPERSONAL RELATION: A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to remove and replace parts in a timely manner. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Must have the capacity to gain knowledge by hearing for one’s own safety due to the dangers involved. The working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. PREFFERED: 24 months commercial A/C maintenance experience.
