<p>ViuTV is seeking an experienced, passionate and dynamic <strong>Technical Head</strong> to own and drive the strategy, on-going development, and technical operations of our entire suite of consumer-facing digital platforms, including our Website, Mobile Apps (iOS/Android), and Smart TV applications. This is a critical leadership role ensuring ViuTV's platform is robust, reliable, secure, and versatile. If you thrive on developing the next generation of Hong Kong TV and entertainment platforms, translating business opportunities into robust technical architecture, mentoring top engineering talent, and operating highly available systems, we want to hear from you.</p> <p> </p> <p>As Technical Head, you will be the ultimate technology owner for our digital ecosystem, focused on:</p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><strong>Your Role:</strong></span></p> <ol> <li><span style="text-decoration:underline">Architecture & Platform Ownership</span></li> </ol> <ul> <li>Own the end-to-end architecture across Web, Mobile, Smart TV, and backend services.</li> <li>Improve platform performance, scalability, resilience, and code quality.</li> <li>Set and enforce engineering standards (CI/CD, secure-by-design, release governance).</li> </ul> <p> </p> <ol start="2"> <li><span style="text-decoration:underline">Platforms Improvements </span></li> </ol> <ul> <li>Partner with Product to balance new features and technical debt with clear priorities.</li> <li>Plan resourcing and drive predictable delivery across multiple workstreams.</li> <li>Manage dependencies and risks across internal teams and vendors.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <ol start="3"> <li><span style="text-decoration:underline">Reliability & Cybersecurity</span></li> </ol> <ul> <li>Raise operational maturity (monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident management).</li> <li>Own platform security and lead vulnerability management and incident response.</li> <li>Ensure the platform can handle peak traffic and high availability requirements.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <ol start="4"> <li><span style="text-decoration:underline">People Leadership & Mentorship</span></li> </ol> <ul> <li>Build and lead a strong engineering team.</li> <li>Create a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <ol start="5"> <li><span style="text-decoration:underline">Stakeholder & Vendor Management</span></li> </ol> <ul> <li>Act as the key technical partner to internal stakeholders.</li> <li>Govern vendor delivery and ensure clean, well-documented integrations (APIs).</li> </ul> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p> </p> <p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><strong>To Succeed in this Role:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Technical & Leadership Foundation</span></p> <ul> <li><strong>7+ years</strong> of software engineering experience, including <strong>3+ years</strong> in a leadership role owning production, consumer-facing digital platforms with stringent high-availability demands.</li> <li><strong>Expert understanding of Cloud Architecture (preferably AWS):</strong> Networking, security controls, observability tools, and high-scale patterns. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CDK).</li> <li><strong>Mandatory Security Expertise:</strong> Hands-on experience implementing security practices, secure design reviews, access control, secrets management, and leading incident response.</li> <li>Strong experience with APIs (REST, GraphQL a plus), databases (SQL/NoSQL, knowledge in MongoDB is a plus), caching (Redis, CDN).</li> <li>Proven ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and manage complex delivery through a mix of internal teams and external vendors.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Highly Desired Experience</span></p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in the <strong>Media, Streaming, or Ad Tech</strong> domain.</li> <li>Experience with peak event operations (e.g., live streaming, online voting/polling systems).</li> <li>Strong interest in exploring how AI can improve development productivity (e.g., coding, testing, documentation, and operations).</li> <li>Knowledge of Mobile (iOS/Android) and/or Smart TV application architecture and release processes.</li> <li>Experience with Serverless and/or container orchestration platforms.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <h3><a name="_1s9tlebush6a"></a><strong>Why Join ViuTV?</strong></h3> <p> </p> <p>This is a chance to shape the future of digital entertainment in Hong Kong.
