Job-ID: 16024; Location(s): McPherson, KS Job Description Summary The Master Tool & Die Maker supports the Viega Machine Shop’s mission of producing precision tooling that supports our manufacturing operations. This position will set-up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments and tools of the highest quality standards. This position will regularly interact and problem solve with cross-functional team members across Viega. What You'll Do: <ul> <li>Translate the information from blueprints, sketches, specifications and CAD/CAM files to the production of precision tools & dies. </li> <li>Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces. </li> <li>Ability to set up, operate, and conversationally program conventional, manual, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machines and equipment. </li> <li>File, grind and adjust parts so that they fit together properly. </li> <li>Quality check completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications. </li> <li>Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies. </li> <li>Work cooperatively with a wide variety of Viega departments and outside vendors. </li> <li>Prepare raw materials and tools prior to machining, cutting or deburring. </li> </ul> Other <ul> <li>Attends meetings as required and/or assigned. </li> <li>Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.</li> </ul> Special Job Dimensions <ul style="margin-bottom:11.0px"> <li>Will be required to travel up to 20%, including international travel. </li> </ul> What We're Looking For: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <ul style="margin-bottom:11.0px"> <li>Proficient in programming and operation of CNC equipment, including 5-axis machining</li> <li>Ability to fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts </li> <li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings </li> <li>Ability to multitask and prioritize to manage multiple projects/assignments</li> <li>Ability to work independently and make competent decisions</li> <li>Strong communication skills to facilitate understanding and problem-solving with cross-functional teams and colleagues</li> <li>Attention to detail</li> </ul> Education, Certification/License & Work Experience <ul style="margin-bottom:11.0px"> <li>High-School Diploma or Equivalent </li> <li>Minimum 5 years of experience</li> </ul> Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
