As an <strong>HVAC Maintainer</strong>, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring passenger comfort and fleet reliability by maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems fitted to our tram fleet.</p> <p>This hands-on technical role is part of a <strong>unionised workforce</strong> and operates under the applicable Enterprise Agreement. You’ll work in a highly regulated environment where safety, compliance, and reliability are paramount.</p> <h3> </h3> <h3>Key Responsibilities</h3> <p><strong>HVAC Maintenance & Fault Finding</strong></p> <ul> <li>Maintain, fault-find and repair HVAC systems installed on trams, including roof-mounted and underfloor units</li> <li>Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration faults across compressors, evaporators, condensers, fans, controls and sensors</li> <li>Respond to in-service failures and depot-based defects in line with operational priorities</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preventative & Planned Maintenance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with maintenance instructions and OEM requirements</li> <li>Perform inspections, servicing, testing and component replacements to ensure fleet availability and passenger comfort</li> <li>Identify emerging defects and support condition-based maintenance initiatives to reduce service disruptions</li> </ul> <p><strong>Electrical Works (Grade A)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Perform electrical work on HVAC and associated systems within the scope of a <strong>Grade A Electrical Licence</strong></li> <li>Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals relevant to rolling stock</li> </ul> <p><strong>Safety, Compliance & Industrial Obligations</strong></p> <ul> <li>Comply with all WHS legislation, rail safety requirements, safeworking procedures and network rules</li> <li>Ensure refrigerant handling meets <strong>ARCtick</strong> and environmental compliance requirements</li> <li>Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, risk assessments and continuous improvement activities</li> <li>Perform all work in accordance with the applicable Enterprise Agreement</li> </ul> <p><strong>Documentation & Reporting</strong></p> <ul> <li>Accurately complete work orders, defect reports and maintenance records using the maintenance management system</li> <li>Record refrigerant usage, test results and compliance documentation</li> <li>Escalate safety, quality or asset risks through appropriate reporting channels</li> </ul> <h3> </h3> <h3>About You</h3> <p>You are a safety-focused trades professional with strong diagnostic capability and experience working in highly regulated environments.</p> <p><strong>Essential:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Trade qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or similar</li> <li><strong>Grade A Electrical Licence</strong></li> <li>Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick)</li> <li>Proven experience in HVAC maintenance and fault finding</li> <li>Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems</li> <li>Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics</li> <li>Commitment to safety, compliance and quality</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working on rolling stock, heavy vehicles or complex industrial plant</li> <li>Familiarity with maintenance management systems</li> <li>Experience working within a unionised or enterprise agreement environment</li> </ul> <h3> </h3> <h3>Why Join Yarra Trams?</h3> <ul> <li>Be part of an organisation that keeps Melbourne moving</li> <li>Stable, long-term role in critical public transport infrastructure</li> <li>Strong safety culture with ongoing training and development</li> <li>Work as part of a skilled and collaborative workforce</li> </ul></div></div></div>
